Have you got your priorities in the right order?
One of the most important things in life is balance. Yet if we look at the life we are living, work and business, a great deal of the time take priority over leading our best and most enjoyable life.
I can hear the argument now, ‘Yes, but you need money to pay bills and to have a better quality of life. You need money to live’.
I get that, and I am not disagreeing with you. What I am saying is that in order to have the best possible life, you will need to find a balance.
You see happiness comes from the pictures in your head.
If you are happy in one area of your life, it is probably because you are in sync with the vision that you originally created for yourself. This means that your happiness is closely related to the expectations you have set for your life and how you perceive things should be.
If your vision and mental picture of what you wanted for your life does not match where you are right now, this can lead to unhappiness and a feeling of failure.
A key thing that most people don’t get when trying to maintain balance in their life is that finding balance is a lifetime undertaking. It needs to be worked at everyday. There is no predetermined amount of time at which everything will fall into place, this is a lifestyle and a way of living that requires honest evaluation and must be worked at every single day.
This week, don’t be incongruent. If you say that your family and friends are your number one priority, however, you work a 60-70 hour week, you are not being honest or congruent with yourself.
When setting goals, don’t start with a business plan or how you are going to work your way up the corporate ladder. Start first with a life plan and what you want out of life.
“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.”
– Albert Schweitzer –
Don’t end up in that graveyard full of regrets and regret not having more balance in your life.
No one has ever laid on their deathbed and said that they wished they would have worked harder.
My takeaway for this week:
This week, don’t get so busy making a living that you forget how to make a life.
Take time to reflect, and connect with those who make you feel good and whom you enjoy being around. Maintaining a balance without being constantly fatigued from the treadmill of a work existence is the secret to happiness.
- Establish your priorities.
- Learn to say NO.
I would love to know your thoughts and if your life is currently out of balance. I may have a few idea’s that can get you back to normal again and make the most out of your time……..http://beyoubegreat.com.au/get-in-touch/
Have a great week ahead.
