THE SECRET TO GETTING AHEAD IS GETTING STARTED

2016 is now well and truly under way and with the kids now back at school, it is a good time to get started on making 2016 our best year yet.

Is there something you want to start, but have been prolonging it and procrastinating?

Sometimes we make things bigger than what they actually are. It is normally fear and assumptions that are the two prime candidates for not starting something. It is important to remember that our fear is nothing more than a conditioned response to the negative assumptions that we make.

The key is to start. Do something. It’s a new day, a new year, and for many reading this, the start of their new life. With discipline you will be amazed at how much progress you’ll be able to make, if you just start.

Why is starting something and taking action so hard when we have built the task up to be enormous in our heads. It’s probably because the thought of having to start something and not finishing it casts doubt on our ability.

If we don’t start something or make an effort, we can always say “I could have done that.” However, once you try and have made an effort, we cannot say that anymore and our excuses are taken from us.

I believe that if you can improve your choice of words and how you communicate with yourself, your thoughts and actions will follow. How you interact with yourself influences the choices you make, which in turn inspires action.

Mark Twain used to say, ‘Eat a live frog first thing in the morning’. Meaning you should do the biggest, hardest and most daunting task first, the one that you are most likely to put off doing. That way if it is done first thing, the rest of the day is all down hill.

Quote of the week…..”Action always beats intention.”
